Star Wars This Week # 6

The Inquisitors are on the hunt for the Rebels… Han Solo has come to the rescue of Luke Skywalker. Leia leads the charge to take down Darth Vader. There is never a dull moment in the Star Wars Universe.

We are now halfway through Vader Down and the intensity is ramping up. The Rebels are attempting to hunt down the Sith Lord. Han Solo is hunting for Luke Skywalker, who is also lost on the planet. Dr Alphra is working on a plan to assist her master. It all comes together in the third issue of Vader Down.

Rebels really stepped it up a notch on this one. We get a glimpse into the inner workings and plans of the Inquisitors when the Jedi go on a secret mission. It feels like we’re about to step into a very exciting arc in the overall story.

Here is this week’s review of the events that happened in the Star Wars Universe.

!!! Spoiler Warning!!!

  • Featuring: Star Wars #13 (Vader Down #3) / Star Wars Rebels (Ep 10)

#1 Star Wars #13  (Vader Down #3)

Score: 8/10

The battle to capture Darth Vader continues on the remote planet of Vrogas Vas. Han Solo and Leia have arrived, and now split up in order to search for Luke and lead the assault against Darth Vader respectivly. Dr Alphra has secretly landed on the planet, and attempts to assist Vader in the capture of his son.

As the last issue ends, Dr Alphra and her evil droids have tricked and captured Luke Skywalker, who has been knocked unconscious. It would appear as if she has gained the upper hand but Han Solo arrives just in time and mounts a counter attack.

The two groups battle each other. Chewbacca rips the arms off of tripple zero – which is a good throwback to the original movie in which Han mentions that its not wise to upset a wookie. The standoff continues with Han Solo and Dr Alphra going shot for shot with each other.

Luke wakes up just in time to rescue Chewbacca, severing the still attached arm of the evil protocol droid and finishing off the battle. R2-D2 takes out his astromech counterpart by blinding him with some sort of oil, and the droid blows itself up with its massive arsenal. The rescue mission is a success and Alphra is now the captive of the rebels.

On the other side of the planet the rebel forces are still attempting to defeat Vader led by Princess Leia. As the issue comes to a close we find out that Darth Vader has defeated her troops and now has captured Leia. “Well this is unnexpected. Good evening, princess.”

Now halfway through this 6 part series, we have a new mission; rescue the princess. We’re going to have to wait another 3 weeks – December 23rd – before we find out what happens next.

#2 Star Wars Rebels – “The Future of the Force” (Season 2, Episode 9)

Score: 9/10

The Jedi have a mission to discover the true intention of the Inquisitors. Or one of their intentions at least. This has been the driving force of the second season thus far, and we are learning more about these mysterious agents of the Empire. It looks like we’re about to learn a whole lot more.

We see the Inquisitors capture and destroy a transport ship in order to capture a young child we assume is powerful in the force. The Inquisitors job are to hunt down and destroy the remaining Jedi as well as capture any young force sensitive children, to be brought back to the Emperor either to train as agents of evil or possibly just to destroy any hope of the Jedi returning.

Ashoka Tano has been trying to get information about the Inquisitors and has two locations she needs to investigate. She sends Kanan and Ezra to the planet Kabodo in order to investigate and she finds herself at the location of the ship that the Inquisitors had attacked. She finds 0nly one survivor – the grandmother 0f the child – and now has discovered the importance of what has happened. And the inquisitors intentions.

The Jedi have arrived on Takobo with Zeb, and they split up. Zeb discovers the Inquisitors TIE fighters in a docking bay, and finds the child inside one of them. He now becomes a baby-sitter while the other two Jedi search for the other missing child.

They are discovered by the inquisitors and hunted through the apartment building, narrowly escaping. They arrive back at the docking bay and are once again confronted by the Inquisitors, and are able to hold them off breifly but it appears as if they are going to strugggle.

This is when Ashoka arrives. She ignites her two white lightsabers and her prowess in the force is fully revealed. The ensuing battle is intense but it is clear that her abilities are going be too much for the Inquisitors to handle. The team escapes with the two younglings. The big reveal at the end of the episode is that the Inquisitor’s droid companion had recorded Ezra talking about going back to their base on Gorell.

With this piece of vital information about the location of the Rebels base, the stage is set for the next couple episodes. It is pretty clear we are on a collision course.

Hopefully everyone out there enjoyed this week’s Star Wars content. Next week is the Star Wars Annual #1 and DisneyXD has TWO episodes of Rebels coming out, one in the usual Wednesday spot and another episode coming out on Sunday! I expect this to be an exciting instillment into the Star Wars lore!

So until next week,

May the Force be with you!
