TLDR: Vader Down #4 – #6

We pick up this story on the planet Vrogas Vas. Darth Vader has crash landed on the planet and the rebels have begun an all out assault to take him down once and for all. Darth Vader now knows the identity of his son – Luke Skywalker – and he will let nothing stand in his way to capture him.

This is the second half of the Vader Down recap and review. To see the review of issues #1 – # 3 click here.

The Vader Down event was released during December 2015 and January 2016 and merged the two story-lines from the two main Star Wars Comics – Darth Vader and Star Wars – for an epic crossover event. Unfortunatlty, it only lasted for 6 issues, but it was very exciting from start to finish, so maybe its for the best that it was contained in such a short run; it never got dull.

So without further delay, here is the second part of my Vader Down TLDR.

Vader Down #4

(Darth Vader #14)

Darth Vader’s true power is on display here. He has already thrown aside the first couple attacks on his location, he is proving to be as powerful as the legends would have foretold. Just when we thought the Rebels were gaining the upper hand, Darth Vader has captured Leia. Luke, Han and Chewie are going to need to save their friend from certain doom.

Star Wars This Week #12

Darth Vader faces off against Commander Karbin… Kylo Ren and the First Order have arrived on the Galactic scene in a major way…. This was yet another amazing week to be a Star Wars fan! My reviews and recaps follow.

We have reached the finale of the Vader Down crossover event. Sadly, this storyline had to end eventually, but the ride was more than satisfying! Darth Vader got to showcase how much of a bad-ass he is, while throwing aside a threat to his place in the Empire. We get to see howWe get to learn a bit more about Luke’s quest to become a Jedi.

This week I am finally posting my review of the Force Awakens. There is much more going on than what we saw in this movie, which honestly was the best part. They left a lot open to interpretation, which will give the people in charge of Episodes 8 and 9 lots to work with, and leave lots of loose ends to be covered by future novels and comics.

Without further delay, here is my take on the week that was in the Star Wars Universe.

!!!Spoiler Warning!!!

  • Featuring: Darth Vader #15 (Vader Down part 6) / Episode 7: The Force Awakens (Spoiler Review)

#1 Darth Vader #15 (Vader Down part 6)

Score: 9/10

This was the final instalment of the very exciting crossover event known as Vader Down. Darth Vader has his hands full while downed on the planet Vrogas Vas. Not only does he has to contend with the full on assault from the Rebel forces, he is now dealing with another rival; Comander Korbin. In this issue, we will see how everything ends up.

Episode 8 Release Date Announced!

It is exciting that we now have an official date for the release of Episode 8. Unfortunately, it is delayed… from May until December 15th 2017. We will have to wait just a little bit longer to see Episode 8 in theatres….

This still maintains the “5 movies in 5 years” set-up that Disney promised us, with the 3 trilogy movies and two stand-alone films.

Rebels Season 2 mid-season trailer

Well, this looks pretty exciting!!!  It has been announced that Star Wars Rebels will be back on Wednesdays, starting with next week – January 20th 2016. This announcement came along with a trailer, which I will put a link to below. We already know that the show has been ordered for a third season, so its awesome to see them pushing new boundaries.

The trailer is about 3 minutes long and shows a lot of footage from the second half of the season. The tone certainly looks a lot darker than the first season and a half that we’ve seen. Im excited to see how all of this plays out.

Commander Karbin joins the attack against Darth Vader. A young Anakin Skywalker learns the ways of the Force from his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is my weekly recap and review of the new arrivals in the Star Wars Universe.

The Vader Down crossover event is still in full swing and Marvel is launching their new mini-series Obi-Wan and Anakin, which follows a younger duo through the period between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. And of course The Force Awakens is still in theatres. If you haven’t seen the movie, go see the movie!!! Its well on its way to being the biggest earning movie of all time.

So without further delay, lets get on with this weeks edition of Star Wars this Week.

!!!Spoiler Warning!!!

#1 Star Wars #14 – “Vader Down part 5”

Score: 9/10

This comic continues to impress. The stakes still feel pretty high, and the plot continues to thicken. Its been driving forward at a great pace. There have been enough twists to draw me right back in on each issue. Vader Down has been a fun ride. Its sad that its nearly over.

The Force Awakens IMAX posters

These are absolutely spectacular pieces of art, especially if your a massive Star Wars fan – which I assume you are, since you’ve stumbled upon this post. If you live in a city with an AMC Imax theatre, they were giving these away to anyone who comes to visit.

I just can’t get enough of these posters! Im pretty sure they will go down in history with some of the best posters from the Star Wars universe once the dust settles on The Force Awakens hype-machine. Anyways, I hope you enjoy…

This was updated to include the fourth and final poster.

Star Wars This Week #10

Chewbacca and Zarro have been captured by the Empire and need to come up with a plan to escape. And we finally learn about the secret mission that had sent Chewbacca out on his own in the first place. We turn the page on the calendar year that was. This is the first instalment of 2016.

Next week is a really exciting one. I will be posting my Force Awakens spoiler review along side the two comic releases; Star Wars #14 (Vader Down part 5) and the first issue of the Obi-Wan and Anakin comic. I will also begin reading Aftermath, the novel by Chuck Wendig, so expect a review about that in the coming weeks.

So without further delay, lets get on with this weeks edition of Star Wars this Week.

  • Featuring: Chewbacca #5

#1 Chewbacca #5 –

Score: 9/10

Well, i was reluctant to start reading this comic when it first came out. It didn’t seem to have much appeal. Even while reading it i had my doubts at times, but the big furry walking carpet and his side-trip adventure hooked me in. As this series went on I became more and more interested in the story. In the end, i kind of wish i could see more, but its probably best that they let this one rest where it did. It was a fantastic finale.
